Foundations On The Wheel Workshops
Every workshop is limited to 10 students
4-Day Wheel Throwing Foundations
This 4-day intensive workshop is designed to give you a solid foundation in wheel throwing so you can continue practising with confidence on your own. We’ll move step by step through the essentials – from preparing clay and centring, to throwing core forms and refining finished pieces – always with an eye on how you work: your hands, your pace, and whats comfortable for you.
Learning to throw is as much about your state of mind as it is about how your hands work. Throughout the course we’ll slow things down, build good habits, and help you feel truly at home on the wheel.
What you’ll learn
-
How to prepare and wedge clay
-
The basic building blocks of a good throw: posture, hand positions and technique
-
How to throw cylinders, bowls, cups and simple vases
-
How to trim your pieces, turn a foot and add subtle surface textures
-
How to prepare your work for glazing and continue practising independently after the course
Who it’s for
This course is aimed at beginner to intermediate throwers – from complete newcomers to those who’ve already started but want to deepen their fundamentals. Teaching is tailored to each student, with a maximum of 10 participants so there’s plenty of individual attention.
