Canopy Collection - Fungi Vase 3

Fungi Vase No.3 imagines a vessel left behind deep within the forest. As years pass, nature begins to reclaim it. Fungi take hold of the surface, growing outwards and gradually obscuring the clean, human-made form beneath.

At the top, the original silhouette remains almost untouched. Moving down the vase, that sense of order slowly gives way to something more organic and unpredictable, until it becomes difficult to tell where the vessel ends and the growth begins. The piece exists somewhere between object and organism - half shaped by human hands, half reclaimed by nature, caught in the slow process of returning to the landscape from which its material first came.
